Police commandos assault a bus in a hostage-taking incident at Quirino Grandstand in Manila in the Philippines on Monday. The incident began when a fired former Filipino policeman held 15 Hong Kong tourists hostage aboard the bus.

A hostage-taking in Manila, Philippines — in which a former policeman held 15 tourists on a bus — has ended with eight people dead, including the gunman.

Police surrounded and entered the bus Monday, and television footage showed four people leaving it.

One body could be seen being taken off the bus.

The Associated Press later reported that Manila hospitals indicated seven out of the 15 hostages had died.

Freelance reporter Dean Bernardo said the gunman — who was indentified as former senior inspector Rolando Mendoza, 55 — was shot and killed by a police sniper.

Earlier, police said the driver of the bus, who escaped before police officers surrounded the bus, had indicated the gunman had opened fire on the tourists. The bus driver said the gunman was armed with an M16 rifle.

Police shot out the tires of the bus and then smashed the side windows, door and windshield of the bus. The police tried to board it, but they backed off after shots were fired from inside the vehicle.

The daylong standoff in the Philippine capital began when the gunman, in an apparent attempt to get his job back, commandeered the bus, which had aboard mainly tourists from Hong Kong. The gunman initially released nine of his hostages, but kept another 15 on the bus.

Newspaper reports from 2008 indicated that Mendonza was among five police officers charged with robbery, extortion and grave threats. The charges were laid after a hotel chef in Manila complained that officers had falsely accused him of using drugs in order to extort money from him.

“Reliable Gold” – Any bounty you get from hero kills or from the extra “aoe kill gold” bonus (feature from few patches ago) is added to your Reliable Gold pool.

“Unreliable Gold” – It is everything else (creep kills, neutrals, etc).

Dying can only take away gold from your Unreliable Gold pool and not from your Reliable Gold. Buying items uses up your Unreliable Gold first before using your Reliable Gold.

An example: You have 910 total gold (500 Unreliable, 410 Reliable). If you buy Boots of Speed, you’ll have 410 total gold left (0 Unreliable, 410 Reliable). However, if you bought Chainmail, you would have 360 Reliable Gold left.

The process is seamless to the user, you won’t have to do anything extra to make it work. Your total gold is still displayed in the same place. Your Reliable Gold is displayed in your scoreboard title.

This is a new experimental idea that may be adjusted and tweaked over time depending on feedback and results after it is released. As always, let me know anything you want to see in future versions.

Buyback uses reliable gold first. There are some other plans and ideas for buyback adjustments in the future but I would like to see these changes stabilize first before considering further stuff. There may also be some other changes related to the aoe bounty in the future but I want to take it slow one step at a time and see how this change is reflected in games first.

No matter how jilted fans in Cleveland may feel, they can’t accuse James of leaving for money, not when you consider the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement gave the Cavaliers the right to sign him for an extra year with greater annual raises than any other team in the league.

“It had nothing to do about money for me,” he said. “I easily could have taken the money, or I could have asked Cleveland to do a sign-and-trade and I could have got the six years and got the money. It wasn’t about the money. It was about uniting with two guys, uniting with a franchise that I believe we can compete for not one year, but like I said, for these five years and maybe so on after that. To edit the text and to have full control on what  text you wanted to put in the link these are the steps you need to follow:

1. First go to the directory wp-content/themes/thesis_17/lib/functions and look for the file loop.php. (this is in thesis 1.7 probably the same with older version) Make sure you have back-up your files just in case.

2. In loop.php file look on the code and locate function thesis_post_content()

3. In the function check if you can see the_content(thesis_read_more_text()); edit the text in red.

This ability replaces Urna Swarm.

Target a point. A large swarm of creatures (12) will move towards that direction, each latching onto an enemy unit that it comes into contact with. Each unit will only get latched onto by one creature maximum. The creatures that don’t find a unit will just keep moving forward for a bit until they find something in that direction to latch onto. Visually it looks like the swarm is rushing forwards looking for unoccupied targets.

When a creature latches onto a unit, it will remain on that target until the creature is killed or its duration runs out. The creatures can be killed via attacks, but they require a certain number of attacks, regardless of damage, to get them off of you. Once they latch onto you, they slowly eat away at your armor and do minor damage. Again, they can be attacked while they are attacking you.

Summons a Sentinel unit from the forests to the targeted point. The Sentinel is invisible to enemy units (revealed by truesight).

Sentinels have a small vision radius and can be instructed to defend the nearby area. When they are in Defense mode (special animation for this), their vision and invisibility cloak are removed and they automatically attack the nearest enemy unit that comes into their range.

Once a Sentinel attacks at an enemy unit, it returns to Watcher mode.

Yasha

* Implemented a new mode for observers -zm (-zoommode). It pulls the camera outwards to see more action at the same time.

* Implemented a new game mode -cp (-capturepoint)

This game mode requires more teamwork and coordination than you might expect from your usual funmode.

After 10 minutes, 6 capture points appear at fixed locations around the map. Once the capture points are created, those areas are permanently visible to both teams for the rest of the game.

To capture a point, you have to be standing on it for a certain amount of time. The more heroes standing on it the faster you gain control over it. There cannot be any enemy heroes at a point you are trying to capture. With 5 heroes it requires 12.5 seconds to capture (60 for just 1 hero). Heroes cannot be invisible while on a capture point area. Illusions do not count as heroes when on top of a Capture Point.

There are 3 types of capture points, if you get 2 of the same type then they stack. Duplicates of each type are available on opposite sides of the map.

The game announces when an enemy captures a point. It is also visible on the minimap which areas you have captured and which areas the enemy has. When you capture a point, your team’s heroes gain bonuses to various attributes (described below)

Combat – CP Type 1 [Bonus Damage/Armor]: Increases your Damage by 14 and Armor by 4 (Twice of each if you have both)
Regen – CP Type 2 [Bonus Health/Mana Regeneration]: Increases your Health Regeneration by 4 and Mana Regeneration by 1
Speed – CP Type 3 [Bonus Movement/Attack Speed]: Increases your Movement Speed by 4% and Attack Speed by 12%

If you have two of the same type, you get twice the bonus. For example, if you have both Combat you get 28 bonus damage and 8 bonus armor.

Whenever your team captures or recaptures a point, all allied heroes in that area will get healed for 200 hp/mp, gain 150 bonus gold and bonus xp (4 creeps worth)

If the first time the item is lost from its original owner it is picked up by an allied hero, it becomes muted (no damage) until it returns to its owner. If an enemy acquires the rapier, it same rules as the previous version. Here are the complete rapier rules to clarify:
- “Original Rapier” has two modes, active and muted. It is active (bonus damage, droppable) when carried by the owner and muted (no damage, droppable) when carried by an ally
- “Free Rapier” is the item state that occurs when an enemy acquires it. This is a permanent transformation for the item. It will always provide bonusdamage and will always be undroppable, regardless of how it switches sides back and forth afterwards. This is the same as the previous patch.
Summary: The primary change that is done here is that a hero cannot intentionally pool the rapier to his ally.

* -unlock now requires a majority vote before the gold and items of a leaver will be released. As a reminder, once a hero is unlocked, it cannot be switched.

* Added a 15 second wait period before the drafting begins in -CD to give both teams a chance to look at the heroes.

* Renamed the controlon/off commands to be clearer which is which. They are now -disableselection (-ds) and -enableselection (-es)
